How to improve the tensile strength of 65Mn steel plate?

The tensile strength of 65Mn steel plate can be improved by the following methods:

1、 Heat treatment method

Quenching+tempering:

Quenching can obtain martensitic structure in 65Mn steel plate, thereby significantly improving its strength. Heat the steel plate to 810 ℃ -830 ℃ for austenitization, and then rapidly quench and cool it, such as in water or oil.

Surface quenching:

By using induction heating, flame heating, and other methods to rapidly heat the surface of 65Mn steel plate to quenching temperature and then quenching, the surface can obtain a high hardness and high strength martensitic structure, while the core still maintains good toughness. This not only improves the tensile strength of the surface, but also reduces overall deformation.


2、 Cold processing method

Cold rolling or cold drawing:

By using cold rolling or cold drawing processes to produce work hardening in steel plates, the tensile strength can be improved. During the cold working process, the grains of the steel plate are elongated, the dislocation density increases, resulting in an increase in strength.

However, the amount of deformation during cold processing should be appropriately controlled to avoid defects such as cracks.

Shot peening treatment:

Using high-speed steel shot to impact the surface of the steel plate, causing plastic deformation and residual compressive stress on the surface. Residual compressive stress can improve the tensile strength of steel plates, as well as enhance their fatigue strength and stress corrosion resistance.


3、 Adding alloy elements

Microaloying:

Add trace amounts of alloying elements such as vanadium, titanium, niobium, etc. to 65Mn steel. These elements can refine the grain size and improve the strength and toughness of steel.

Alloying:

Adding appropriate amounts of alloying elements such as chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, etc. can improve the hardenability and strength of steel. These alloying elements can form special carbides, enhancing the strength of steel.

But the amount of alloying elements added should be appropriate to avoid affecting other properties of the steel.


4、 Optimize processing technology

Control rolling:

During the hot rolling process, by controlling parameters such as rolling temperature, deformation, and cooling rate, the steel plate can achieve good microstructure and properties. Controlled rolling can refine grain size, improve strength and toughness.

For example, by using low-temperature large deformation rolling and then rapid cooling, a fine grain structure can be obtained, which can improve the tensile strength.

Post weld heat treatment:

If 65Mn steel plate needs to be welded, appropriate heat treatment can be carried out after welding, such as stress relief annealing or normalizing and tempering. These heat treatments can eliminate welding residual stresses, improve the microstructure and properties of welded joints, and enhance tensile strength.
